La Nau Côclea of Camallera announces a call for international applications from creators who wish to take up residency to perform research work in 2009
1. The Côclea residency accommodates projects of visual arts, performance, theatre, music, writing and interventions in pubic space.
The residency is intended to enable the artist to encounter the ideal conditions of space, concentration and facilities for his or her research.
The residency neither envisages nor rules out, the production of research projects or their exhibition.
2. Residencies include accommodation for artists (maximum 4) and work space for a minimum of 7 for a maximum of 90 days.
Some Nau resources (high-definition video camera, sound equipment, etc.) may be used. Consult the appendix for features of the spaces and the list of resources.
3. Côclea staff will help artists to make the necessary contacts with the local population and suppliers of the materials and services associated with their research.
They will also help creators to find resources for the production and future exhibition of their work.
4. Artists who wish to apply for the residency must send the following documentation by e-mail info@naucoclea.com:
- contact details of the person in charge of the project, number of participants, dates for which the residency is requested (with an alternative option should there be one), the spaces required (accommodation and work room, exteriors).
- a letter of intent and a text in which the artist explicitly agrees, if he or she is chosen, to perform the residency in the periods requested.
- a description of the project (maximum 3 sheets), and a brief CV (maximum 2 sheets)
5. Applications may be sent throughout the year.
Appendix
a. Residency
- 30m2
- 2 rooms, 1 with double bed and 1 with two single beds
- small lounge, bathroom and small kitchen
- Wi-Fi, heating, refrigerator, use of washing machine
b. Work room
-80 m2 grey cement, 3.10 metres high with smooth walls, ceiling and floor. No windows
c. 8,000 m2 exteriors use of which is restricted and depends on the nature of the project.
