Texts: Laia Noguera i Clofent, Carles Hac Mor

Sound work: Josep Manuel Berenguer
A production by Nau Côclea

Ateneu de Barcelona, c/ Canuda. 10.00 p.m. on 15 May

L·L: un punt volat (L·L: an interpunct) is an interdisciplinary project that brings together videoartistic creation, photography, poetry and music. During her residence at the Nau Côclea Centre of Contemporary Creation in Camallera, Berlin artist Betina Kuntzsch investigated the graphic sign the geminate l (the letter l·l) using photographs and videos both of its graphic use and in its symbolic representation in the landscape. Of all the languages that use the Latin alphabet, this sign appears only in written Catalan. The poets Laia Noguera and Carles Hac Mor continued the process using Kuntzsch’s visual material. Their texts have also marked the reworking of the artist’s work. This dialogue is prolonged in the investigation of Josep Manuel Berenguer, an author of electronic music, who gives the dimension of sound to the project.
The work is presented in multimedia format and will be performed at 10.00 p.m. on 15 May at the Ateneu in Barcelona, as part of the Festival Loop for videocreation and the Barcelona Poetry Week.

Pere Portabella, at a recent presentation of “The Silence before Bach” told the audience: “I cannot tell anything because I have no arguments”, a play of words that suggests systematic flight from narratives with a plot in order to give viewers freedom and power of interpret. This is a factor with which videocreation, like music, the visual arts or dance, has been familiar for some time.
Nau Côclea proposes these young artists to Loop because of the aptness of their affinity and topography. They all have a common peripheral, almost borderline approach to videographic creation: with a slant towards film, philosophy, politics or electronics, they orbit the video with strange ellipses, and, naturally, without a plot.

DeVenir

Interventions in the landscape

A project by Albert Girós for Nau Côclea in Camallera

Underway

The landscape of Camallera, which before was calm and governed solely by cyclical seasonal changes, is now undergoing a violent process of change.
DeVenir, a project to observe change and intervention in the landscape surrounding Nau Côclea, sets out a route in the form of a word through the landscape.
The act of walking prompts the writing in the territory to materialise and leaves traces, or alphabetic paths, in its wake.
The walker’s experience is thought, and mental and sensual experience.
The landscape’s experience involves being travelled, understood, lived in and assimilated, along with its vitality, in the map of the walker’s personal history.

FAD. Opinion Networks

FAD. Opinion Networks was established to identify, itemise and prompt discussion on some of the problems that concern the public. The project, which is in virtual format, takes a fresh approach and uses the potential of Internet and new technologies. The aim is none other than to generate information based on different postures and knowledge and thus to establish well-grounded opinion on each subject, for the use and the benefit of everyone. In short, broad sectors of society are involved in producing an idea for a possible and affordable city, thus diminishing the lead role often played by the authorities in this sphere.

The opinions of the people who express themselves in the FAD. Opinion Networks appear on the website in the form of voice capsules that users may listen to directly. It is also possible to subscribe to and receive all new opinions either directly by e-mail or on the corresponding audio manager. This is a good way to keep up with the debate prompted by the FAD. Opinion Networks.

Technically, the project is committed to using free software programs developed in collaborative networks in which different people enter the code provided to the public on a disinterested and free basis. Here again, the FAD takes a stance, through the use of non-commercial programs that allow the most to be made of all the advantages of the Internet without copyright restrictions. They feature among the many organisations that use the simple and efficient weblog structure as a way to disseminate information and prompt opinion.
