20th Annual DEEP LISTENING RETREAT

July 6-10, 2010
Nau Côclea Camallera Girona Spain
With Pauline Oliveros, Ione, Heloise Gold

Deep Listening Retreats founded in 1991 by Pauline Oliveros are for ear minded people.
Deep Listening® is a form of meditation based on experiencing heightened awareness of sound, silence and sounding. Deep Listening practice evolved and developed from Sonic Meditations (Smith Publications, 1971) an earlier body of work by Oliveros now performed in many parts of the world. Daily Retreat activities with instructors Pauline Oliveros, Heloise Gold and Ione include seven hours of daily ritual, attention to breath, listening/sounding meditations, T’ai Chi and Qi Gong movement practices, practicing, journeying for expanded creative resources, listening through dreams, tracking listening with sound journals, interaction, discoveries, exploration strategies for creating and performing, scoring, writing, drawing, creative movement sessions in the open air, listening for creative opportunities, free time, exchange and lively conversation.
Among those who attend Deep Listening Retreats are musicians and artists interested in expanding their understanding of sound and its effects on the body, meditators interested in enhancing their depth of practice through listening, teachers who want to encourage appreciation for listening in their students, and people interested in creativity, well being, relaxation, excitement and connection with others and the environment.

Música13 XVIé PIANO RESIDENT

PIANO RESIDENT
5 to 26 July

Agustí Fernàndez, Evan Parker, Joan Saura, Marc Egea, Mariona Sagarra, Catalina Girona, Andriy Antonovskiy, Carles Hac Mor, Ester Xargayand Roger Sans

The piano is very much in the spotlight at the 2008 edition of Música13. Although we often have resident artists at Nau Côclea, this time the resident is a grand piano.
From 5 to 25 July, the piano will occupy the Nau exhibition room and will be at the disposal of all the pianists, poets, improvisers and piano students alike who wish to come and play it. Piano resident, which will feature rehearsals, jam sessions, classes and workshops, gatherings, interdisciplinary trials, games, and recordings, is looking forward to and relying on the involvement of everyone to round off this year’s Festival.

The Festival starts on July 5 with an explosive quartet: Agustí Fernandez will play with the saxophonist Evan Parker, the electronic keyboard player Joan Saura and Marc Egea on the hurdy gurdy.

XV Nau Côclea Festival of New Music

Music 13 Songs of the Cosmos

This open-air, summer festival features the sounds of electroacoustic and experimental music in the forest, under the stars of the night sky. Routes, talks, concerts and audiovisuals bring music to the night in the heart of nature and take us closer us to the mystery of the Cosmos. The public neither sits nor remains impassive at these events but takes part, walks about, observes and plays.
