About us

Centre of Contemporary Creation

Nau Côclea has an exceptional location and is a meeting point of culture and nature. We are based in Camallera, a village in the county of Alt Empordà, Girona province, Catalonia. Tourism, culture, communication and innovation are significant features of our environment.

The Centre researches, produces and exhibits cultural and contemporary art projects. We consider processes to be as important as eventual proposals and people’s processes of exchange and communication to be the quality of the projects we present.

Our exhibition room houses different-format projects throughout the year: painting, sculpture, photography, installations and multimedia projects.

The workshops and seminars on technology, creation and contemporary thought run at the Nau are aimed at students, creators and artists. We also run workshops for children.

Contemporary music and dance are also present through concerts and performances of experimental and electroacoustic music.

La Nau also coordinates music and image projects. We also create, publish and distribute several edited works and publications such as Côclea Magazine, “Cromos de Geografia” magazine and edited works.

Our unique space enables us to accommodate resident artists who perform projects in collaboration with people from the area and with us.

We consider interaction with other organisations, groups and associations to be particularly important and therefore work with festival organisers, institutions, companies and local associations of all kinds, ranging from the Figueres penitentiary centre to the local television station Canal Nord, and the VAD Video and Digital Arts Festival to our council and neighbouring municipalities.

Our very diverse audience comprises artists, passers-by and residents. Special mention should be made of our partners, with whom we have an intensely reciprocal relationship. They help us to stage the programme and we offer them a special line of benefits and made-to-measure proposals
